New FEI Helmet Rules for 2027: Is Your Riding Helmet Still Approved?
From 1 January 2027, the FEI will introduce stricter safety requirements for riding helmets. Helmets certified only to the older VG1 and EN 1384:2017 standards will no longer be permitted at international FEI competitions. From 1 January 2028, the requirements will become even stricter: helmets must meet at least two accepted safety standards and carry an official quality certification mark.
Check the certification label inside your riding helmet in good time. Planning to buy a new helmet? We recommend choosing a model that already meets the FEI requirements for 2028.
